Zolile Matikinca aka Zoro was born on the 12th of August 1974 in Guglutehu, Cape Town, South Africa. Being the first-born son in a musical family, music has always been a natural thing for him. At the age of six he started to sing in choirs and from there on his musical skills has just grown bigger and bigger.

He spend his days of youth on the dusty streets of Gugulethu, one of Cape Towns´ oldest and yet not developed townships, throwing stones at the police force fighting for justice and to set Mandela free.

All he grew up seeing was oppression and violence from the apartheid system. He has always seen himself as a soldier, whose mission is to sabotage this system and to uplift the people.

In 1989 Zoro was shot by a police, when he tried to stop the policeman from hitting a woman. This paralyzed him from the waist and down. The government of that time did not care about a 15-year-old black boy who was shot in front of everyone and he was left to his own destiny. A destiny of determination to always keep the struggle and the fight for black peoples right.

Zoro always kept his faith in JAH and believed in his guidance to never ever give up your fight. He got strength and stood up from the wheelchair and started to exercise and train until he could walk again.

In 1993 he started doing beats, write lyrics about his life and started to compose it into wicked music in his studio in Gugulethu.

From the first time he stepped up on stage, mashed the place down and got all the people happy and wild on the dance floor.

He knew that he was chosen for something and that JAN has given him the gift of bringing good vibes to the people. In 1990 he got his first musical recognition, such as best ragga artist.

He is conscious, righteous and very political in his lyrics but not to forget give nuff romance and respect to all the women of the world. No matter what color or who you are, still he will make you dance. He is wicked on stage with a lot of love and energy.

His musical reference list is very long. Besides being a solo artist he is with Chronic Clan, a group he formed in 1994. They are established on the South African musical map in terms of winning a number of competitions, such as best ragga and hip-hop group 1994, best hip-hop tune 2003 etc. Chronic Clan consists of Gee with his unique and wild ragga voice, Crossby with his soft and smooth R n´B voice and Zoro an artist with ever changing and unpredictable skills. Together they create a group that gives the audience art that is rare to find.

He has performed with high ranked South African artists, such as the Oudemeerster, Tribe, Skeem, Bongo Muffin, Rantoboko and Ghetto Muffin. He is featured on several tracks of different artists, such as D´Lou and Turbulence.

In August 2003 he went to Sweden to record and album together with the skilled producers Breakmecanix at JuJu Records as well as performing in clubs with different Swedish sound systems; Bam-Bam Exile Sound and Safari Sound. Dope Records and African Express in South Africa are releasing two separate CD compilations in November 2003, while Zoro is on his way to England.

Back again in Malmö, February 2004, Zoro has since continued performing with Safari Sound System from Lund, Skåne. The first 12" vinyl single, "bam Bam" produced by Breakmecanix with Zoroman was released by JuJu Records in the summer of 2004. That same song was later released on the Babylonsjukan Soundtrack, also by JuJu Records.
